SERGE L’HOMME BIOGRAPHY
Name: Serge L’homme
Date of Birth: 30 July 1964
Place of Birth: Martinique
Occupation: Business Owner
Early Life and Education
Serge L’homme was born in Martinique and primarily raised in Guadeloupe, yet his family heritage is deeply rooted in Dominica’s culture and traditions. The youngest of nine siblings — and the only one not born in Dominica — he was raised within a household defined by trade, craftsmanship, and cross-island enterprise.
His father, Coxon L’homme, originally from Castle Bruce with ancestral roots in the Kalinago Territory, was a skilled basket weaver and market trader — known locally as a “huckster” — who sold woven goods throughout the islands. His mother, Antoinette Adin, affectionately known as “Ma L’homme,” was of East Indian descent and worked as a market vendor — also referred to locally as a “huckster” — traveling between Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Dominica to source and trade agricultural produce and spices. Over time, she established herself as a respected spice vendor and trader of specialty products.
Growing up in this environment of mobility, commerce, and cultural exchange, Mr. L’homme developed an early understanding of trade, negotiation, and value creation. It was through his mother’s guidance that he was first introduced to the discipline of spice preparation — lessons that cultivated a lifelong appreciation for flavor, tradition, and enterprise.
His academic and personal development journey later took him to Europe, where he spent approximately five years in France broadening his intellectual horizons, including an interest in human psychology and self-development. At the age of sixteen, he also spent six months in Germany, where he learned the German language and deepened his cross-cultural exposure. He subsequently joined the French Army, an experience that further shaped his discipline, resilience, and structured approach to leadership.
Career
Serge L’homme spent 16 formative years in St. Maarten, where he worked as both a market vendor – locally known as “huckster” – and truck operator. It was during this period that his mother reintroduced him to the art and discipline of spice preparation, teaching him to master nine distinct varieties. What began as a skill passed down through family tradition soon evolved into a commercial pursuit.
Mr. L’homme began selling spices at the local market in St. Maarten, where his growing expertise and passion earned him the nickname “The Spice Man.” Through direct market engagement, he refined not only his product knowledge but also his understanding of customer behavior, pricing dynamics, and grassroots entrepreneurship.
Despite building a livelihood abroad, he felt a persistent calling to return to Dominica. Recognizing the island’s untapped economic potential — particularly in leveraging natural resources and cultural identity — he resolved to apply his skills and experience toward national development.
In 2003, he returned to Dominica and established what would later evolve into L’homme Business Heritage Group Inc., laying the foundation for a multi-sector enterprise rooted in heritage, innovation, and sustainable growth.
Community Engagement, Philanthropy and Impact
Serge L’homme is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Through L’homme Business Heritage Group, he has initiated and supported numerous community-based projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Dominicans as well as boosting Dominica’s economy and reputation.
Personal Life and Legacy

He is widely recognized for his humility, approachable leadership style, and unwavering commitment to community advancement. Residing in Dominica, he continues to play an active role in both the strategic direction of his enterprises and in initiatives that support national development.
His legacy is defined by innovation, sustainability, and a profound reverence for the island he proudly calls home. Through the leadership of L’homme Business Heritage Group Inc., he has demonstrated that commercial success and cultural stewardship can coexist — building enterprises that generate meaningful economic opportunity while preserving Dominica’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
Mr. L’homme is the father of five children — two daughters and three sons. Most were born in Guadeloupe, with his youngest daughter born in Dominica. His eldest daughter, Thimna L’homme, serves as Head of Operations within the Group, overseeing the management and coordination of its bar and restaurant operations, and contributing to the company’s continued growth and institutional development.
A multilingual communicator, Mr. L’homme speaks seven languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Haitian Creole, and Dominican Creole — a reflection of his cross-cultural experiences and international exposure.
