Roseau, Dominica — L’homme Business Heritage Group (LBHG), a dynamic and diversified enterprise rooted in the preservation of Dominica’s culture and heritage, and recognized within the country’s food and beverage industry, has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. While the seeds of transformation were planted in 2018, the formal and structured reorientation of LBHG began in 2022, making a decisive shift toward a purpose-driven, systems-based organization aligned with national development priorities.
Following the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, LBHG’s transformation was set into motion in 2018 when Serge L’homme, founder of LBHG, and business development expert and close associate Donald Bercasio acting as his strategic coach, shifted their focus from personal ambitions to a more mission-driven approach aimed at contributing to the betterment of Dominica and its people.
By 2022, this evolution crystallized into a comprehensive, action-oriented framework designed to foster structured growth within LBHG while contributing to the economic and cultural advancement of the nation.
From Personal Enterprise to Purpose-Driven Organization
Both internal reflection and the current socio-economic realities of Dominica shaped LBHG’s transformation. Inspired in part by the principle often referred to as the “Law of Resonance” – the idea that internal mindset shapes external reality – Mr. L’homme undertook a period of self-development that ultimately translated into organizational clarity.
“What is within you will produce what is outside of you,” he stated. “If you want to see a better country, we must first elevate how we think. Transformation begins internally.”
This mindset shift marked a turning point. As personal clarity deepened, so too did the strategic awareness of the business. During this period, structured strategic advisory was introduced, with business development strategist and seasoned corporate planner Donald Bercasio influencing a critical reframing of the enterprise – advocating that LBHG be viewed out not as a personal project reliant on the founder’s talents, but as a professional organization governed by systems, defined by mission and vision, measurable objectives, and institutional discipline. LBHG subsequently transitioned from being heavily dependent on the founder’s innate abilities to becoming a more structured and systems-driven organization.
The result was the establishment of:
- Clearly articulated Purpose, Mission, and Vision Statements
- SMART strategic objectives
- Defined systems and operational processes
- Formalized organizational structures
- Strengthened inter-unit coordination
- Dedicated office and administrative functions
This transformation has positioned LBHG not merely as a collection of businesses, but as a coordinated business group with long-term ambition.

By integrating hospitality, manufacturing, and agriculture under a unified strategic direction, the Group aims to convert local assets into sustainable wealth for future generations.
“From now on, we will live by the standards of the products and experiences we aspire to deliver.” said Mr. L’homme. “Our commitment is not only to business success, but to excellence that reflects the best for Dominica”
With renewed clarity, structured governance, and a defined growth trajectory, LBHG is positioning itself as a catalyst for innovation, heritage preservation, and economic empowerment.
About L’homme Business Heritage Group, Inc
L’homme Business Heritage Group Inc. is a diversified business group based in the Commonwealth of Dominica, operating across hospitality, food and beverage production, and agriculture.
The journey began in 2003 with a modest spice shop, Caribbean Magic Spice, founded by Serge L’homme after his return to Dominica. For six years, the spice business remained his sole venture. Driven by a vision to integrate Dominican spices into unique culinary and beverage experiences, Mr. L’homme expanded into hospitality.
By 2009/2010, Ruins Rock Café was established, specializing in locally infused flavored rums and distinctive dining experiences. In 2016, Hi-Rise Beach Bar was added to the portfolio, further strengthening the Group’s presence in Dominica’s hospitality landscape.
In 2024, L’homme Family Farms was launched in Concord, Dominica, supporting a strategic move toward vertical integration and sustainable sourcing for the Group’s hospitality operations. The farm marked an important step in aligning agriculture, manufacturing, and hospitality under a unified growth model.
Building on this expansion, 2025 saw the opening of Kali Midway Kafé, strategically located in Concord along the main highway that connects the capital city of Roseau to Douglas-Charles Airport, traversing the island’s central rainforest corridor. The name “Midway” reflects its geographic positioning along this vital transit route, serving both residents and travelers moving between the city and the airport.
The name “Kali” pays homage to the nearby Kalinago Territory, acknowledging the cultural heritage of Dominica’s Indigenous people. The use of “Kafé” — intentionally spelled in Creole form — reinforces the brand’s local identity and authenticity. The concept blends geography, culture, and enterprise, positioning the establishment not merely as a roadside stop, but as a culturally grounded destination experience.
The project also carries personal significance. Founder Serge L’homme traces a diverse heritage — French, Indian, and Kalinago — reflecting the rich cultural mosaic that defines Dominica. Kali Midway Kafé therefore represents not only a strategic commercial expansion, but a broader expression of identity — merging agriculture, hospitality, and heritage within a single growth corridor.
Within this same Concord expansion zone, LBHG is also establishing its manufacturing arm, L’homme Food & Beverage (LF&B). Designed to formalize and scale the production of the Group’s signature products — including rum punches, spice blends, and other value-added offerings — LF&B represents a major step toward structured manufacturing, brand standardization, and long-term commercial scalability. The integration of farming, production, and hospitality within one geographic cluster reflects LBHG’s commitment to vertical integration and sustainable enterprise development.
In 2026, the rejuvenated Caribbean Magic Spice shop — the venture that began Mr. L’homme’s entrepreneurial journey — was reopened at Ruins Rock Café. Now re-envisioned with stronger strategic branding, structured operations, and sustainable development principles, Caribbean Magic Spice is positioned to operate as a distinct retail business unit within the Group, reinforcing LBHG’s commitment to heritage-based enterprise and product commercialization.
Soon to be launched is Ti-Ruins, a streamlined, fast-service extension of Ruins Rock Café. Designed to focus primarily on takeaways and efficiency-driven service, Ti-Ruins introduces a more accessible format of the Ruins experience.
Soon to be launched is Ti-Ruins, a streamlined, fast-service extension of Ruins Rock Café. Designed primarily for takeaways and efficiency-driven service, Ti-Ruins introduces a more accessible and time-sensitive format of the Ruins experience.
The concept is strategically positioned to serve office professionals, public and private sector workers, entrepreneurs, transport operators, students, and individuals constantly on the move — customers who seek quality food and signature flavors without the time commitment of a full dining experience. By focusing on speed, convenience, affordability, and consistent product quality, Ti-Ruins responds to the growing demand for quick yet culturally authentic meals within high-traffic areas.
While optimized for fast turnover and operational efficiency, the concept remains anchored in the Ruins brand identity — preserving its distinctive flavors, locally inspired offerings, and cultural character. The streamlined format allows for simplified menus, faster preparation cycles, and scalable operations, making Ti-Ruins both a customer-centric innovation and a commercially disciplined expansion.
As a complementary unit within the Group’s hospitality portfolio, Ti-Ruins reflects LBHG’s strategic move toward format diversification — enabling the organization to capture new customer segments, increase daily transaction volumes, and strengthen brand presence across multiple service models.
From its inception, LBHG has sought to utilize Dominica’s natural resources and cultural heritage as foundational pillars for enterprise development. Today, the Group’s transformation reflects a broader ambition: to build a structured, scalable organization that contributes meaningfully to the nation’s economy while preserving its identity.
