THIMNA L’HOMME BIOGRAPHY
Date of Birth: 9th July, 1985
Place of Birth: Guadeloupe
Occupation: Business Owner and Head of Operations at L’Homme Business Heritage Group
Early Life and Education
With a North African mother and a Dominican/French father, Thimna describes herself as an “international child,” having experienced a blend of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Growing up on the small island of French and Dutch Saint Martin, she attended school there, completing both her primary and secondary education.
Initially, Thimna pursued a career in the medical field, drawn to the idea of becoming a midwife due to her love for taking care of women and babies and her natural aptitude for biology. However, during an internship in elderly care homes, she quickly realized that this path wasn’t for her. Instead, Thimna pivoted to a passion that had always been close to her heart: beauty and wellness. She enrolled in a professional beautician school, completing four years of training and earning her degree. Her education, while not initially aligned with her ultimate career, shaped her dedication to working with people, no matter their background. Thimna fondly remembers a high school math teacher who inspired her to take a keen interest in the subject, and she now applies these problem-solving skills in her business ventures.
Career
Serge L’Homme returned to St. Maarten, where he spent 16 years working as both a huckster and a truck operator. During this time, his mother reintroduced him to spices, teaching him to master nine distinct varieties. Mr. L’Homme then began selling spices at the local market in St. Maarten. His growing passion and knowledge for spices earned him the reputation of the “Spice Man”. Despite this, Serge felt a strong pullback to Dominica. He saw the potential for economic growth on the island and was determined to apply his knowledge and skills to contribute to its development. In 2003, he returned to Dominica and established L’Homme Business Heritage Group.
Community Engagement, Philanthropy and Impact
Thimna’s career journey began early, as she was always an independent person due to the challenges of growing up in a single- parent household. Instead of spending school breaks relaxing, she worked at a bakery from 6 AM to 2 PM, learning discipline and professionalism at a young age. This early experience set the foundation for her strong work ethic and independence.
After completing her beautician training, Thimna’s career took a new turn as she entered the hospitality and business sectors. She gained valuable experience working in a 5-star hotel and restaurant in Georgia, where she honed her skills in precise systems and operations. This experience has proven essential as she now applies these lessons as an owner of L’Homme Business Heritage Group alongside her father.
Despite numerous challenges throughout her career, Thimna remains humble and focused on growth. She credits her ability to lead with empathy and humility to the lessons learned from overcoming obstacles. She continues to embrace a mindset of continuous learning and takes constructive criticism to heart, using it to fuel her personal and professional growth.
Personal Life and Legacy
Thimna is a 39-year-old mother of two, a son and a daughter, both born in the United States and holding dual French and American citizenship. Outside of her professional life, Thimna enjoys her family life, balancing her career with raising her children.
