L’Homme Aspires To Inspire

The Transformation of L’Homme Business Heritage Group and Why

Roseau — L’Homme Business Heritage Group, a dynamic organization rooted in the preservation of Dominica’s culture and heritage, and renowned in Dominica’s food and beverage industry, has undergone significant transformation over the past few years. These changes, rooted in a broader vision and newfound purpose, strictly began in 2022, and have reshaped the company’s future and role in national development.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, LBHG’s transformation was set into motion in 2018 when Serge L’Homme, founder of LBHG, and Donald Bercasio, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LBHG, shifted their focus from personal ambitions to a more mission-driven approach aimed at contributing to the betterment of Dominica and its people. By 2022, this focus crystallized into a comprehensive, action-oriented plan to foster growth not just within LBHG but for the entire nation.

Both internal and external factors drove this transformation. The current status quo of Dominica and inspiration from the ‘Law of Resonance’ acted as a catalyst for Mr. L’Homme’s decision to reorient LBHG. With a desire to break from the constraints of traditional thinking, and inner recognition, he stated: “What is within you is going to produce what is outside of you – if you want a perfect world, you will need a perfect mindset to create a perfect world. To change the country’s course, we need to change how we think.” These factors allowed LBHG to begin a journey of self-discovery and growth that reflected Serge L’Homme’s own development — from a focus on personal satisfaction to a dedication to the nation and its people.

In recent years, L’Homme Business Heritage Group reflected only Mr. l’Homme’s innate talents as well as his confusion — a reflection of the various stages that he undergone. However, through his self-development and self-discovery journey, Mr. L’Homme became more aware which inherently developed the awareness of the business. This, in turn, enabled the business to establish clear, SMART goals, along with a well-defined purpose, mission, and vision. This newfound clarity played a pivotal role in the development of efficient systems, processes, and the establishment of offices. It also led to the formalization of the company, strengthened relationships between various business units, and fostered a more structured organizational framework.”

Key Changes at LBHG:

  • Clarity of Purpose, Mission, and Vision: LBHG has fully embraced a clear and unified vision to contribute to the growth and development of Dominica.
  • Decentralized Operations: Previously reliant on Mr. L’Homme’s innate talents, the company now operates with specialized departments and systems.
  • Emphasis on Structure and Organization: New offices, formal relationships between business units, and structured processes are now in place, improving logistics and financial management.
  • A Vision for Tourism: LBHG’s future focus will be on tourism, which is seen as a stepping stone to becoming the #1 player in Dominica’s tourism entertainment industry.

Expectations for Future Success:

These changes are expected to place LBHG in the position to utilize all of Dominica’s natural resources and convert them into wealth for future generations. By concentrating on tourism, LBHG envisions becoming a national leader and eventually the best in the industry. The commitment to excellence, along with a focus on portraying a specific, authentic image of Dominica, is expected to drive the company to achieve unparalleled success. “From now on, we will live by the rules and regulations of the products we want to deliver,” said Mr. L’Homme, as he looks ahead to LBHG’s continued growth and contribution to Dominica’s bright future.
